Carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA)

AFP is a glycoprotein synthesized by embryonic yolk sac cells, embryonic hepatocytes and fetal intestinal cells. It is mainly used in the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of primary or metastatic hepatocellular carcinoma, hepatoid gastric cancer and some germ cell tumors (such as endodermal sinus tumors) in gonads or extragonads. AFP has low sensitivity and strong specificity. About 60% of hepatocellular carcinomas are positive, and it is often expressed in poorly differentiated tumors.
